Honouring Truth & Reconciliation
At Northstar Access, we recognize that truth and reconciliation is not a one-time event, but a continuous and essential journey—one that calls on individuals, communities, and organizations to reflect, learn, and take meaningful action.
September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a federally recognized day to honour the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. It’s also a day to acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonialism and to recommit to reconciliation in both words and actions.
As a Canadian-owned company with operations across the country, we understand the responsibility we hold in ensuring that the work we do has a positive impact on all communities—including Indigenous Peoples and Nations.
We are committed to:
- Increasing our understanding. This is a journey, and we’re committed to listening, learning, and addressing gaps in our knowledge.
- Making tangible contributions to Indigenous communities through our project work — including hiring, sourcing, and local investment.
- Engaging meaningfully across all phases of a project — from consultation to completion.
- Creating long-term employment pathways within Northstar, with a focus on training, support, and career growth in our industry.
This year, we invite all Northstar team members to join us in visibly showing their support by wearing orange on September 30, as part of Orange Shirt Day—a movement that grew from the story of Phyllis Webstad and has become a national symbol of remembrance and action.
To learn more about the significance of this day, we encourage everyone to explore nctr.ca — a trusted resource from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
🧡 Every Child Matters.
Let’s continue to walk this path together—with respect, humility, and a shared goal of a more inclusive and equitable future.
