Honoring the Backbone of our Nation
Our Message of Thanks
Construction is more than just building structures – it’s about creating communities, infrastructure, and spaces that shape our daily lives. As our neighbours to the south just finished celebrating Construction Appreciation Week, we too wanted to pause to recognize the hardworking individuals who are the backbone of this vital industry. At Northstar Access, we see firsthand the dedication, skill, and resilience it takes to keep projects moving, and we’re proud to support these efforts through our scaffolding and access solutions.
The Construction Industry: A Pillar of Canada’s Economy
The construction industry is one of the most important contributors to the Canadian economy. In 2022, the industry contributed 7.5% to Canada’s total GDP, generating over $151 billion in economic activity . Employing nearly 1.4 million Canadians, it’s clear that construction is a key driver of both job creation and community development.
However, the value of the industry goes beyond the numbers. Construction workers build the roads we drive on, the homes we live in, the schools our children attend, and the hospitals that care for us. Their impact on society is profound and ever-present.
Celebrating the Workforce Behind Every Build
Behind every major infrastructure project or high-rise, there’s a dedicated workforce that ensures everything runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. These workers bring a diverse set of skills, ranging from masonry and carpentry to electrical work, engineering, and management. Without them, none of these builds would be possible.
At Northstar Access, we recognize the important role we play in keeping these workers safe and equipped to do their best work. Whether it’s providing reliable scaffolding systems for restoration projects or ensuring safe access to skyscrapers with our swing stages, we are committed to supporting the men and women who make construction happen.

Safety First: A Top Priority in Construction Safety is a major focus in the construction industry, and rightly so. The nature of the work often involves high-risk environments, and ensuring the well-being of workers is non-negotiable. According to the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada (AWCBC), the construction industry accounted for nearly 22% of all workplace fatalities in 2021.
That’s why companies like Northstar Access take safety so seriously. Our scaffolding and access solutions are designed with safety in mind, from secure guardrails to load-bearing systems that ensure worker stability at all heights. In collaboration with our partners in construction, we make sure safety is always the top priority on-site.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Construction in Canada
The future of construction in Canada is bright. With a growing emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and infrastructure development, the industry is poised for continued expansion. Major projects like Ontario’s $28.5 billion transit expansion and the development of sustainable communities across the country are just a few examples of what lies ahead .
As the industry evolves, so too will the technologies and solutions that support it. At Northstar Access, we are constantly innovating our products and services to meet the changing needs of the workforce. From enhanced safety features to more efficient scaffolding systems, we’re here to support the industry as it continues to grow and thrive.
A Thank You to the Builders of Tomorrow
While not yet greatly recognized in Canada, this Construction Appreciation Week, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to the construction workers across Canada. Your work helps shape our cities, strengthen our communities, and build the infrastructure that drives progress. Northstar Access is proud to stand with you, providing the access solutions that make your jobs safer and more efficient.
To every construction worker out there – thank you for all that you do. You’re not just building structures; you’re building the future.
